Last month I went up to Aviemore for a weeks night and winter riding. Needless to say the conditions were spectacular and a huge amount of fun was had by all.
On one of the days we headed up to the Ciste car park on the way up to Cairngorm, after some sliding around on the snow and ice a gully run with a steep bank drop into it was found and promptly dropped into. The snow was perfect, hard enough to keep your speed but soft enough to stop you picking up dangerous speed and softening the blows when crashing out. After a couple of runs we were hitting all the corners high and fast and pushing the limits of grip as far as we could (and generally behaving like big kids), then a tree run was spotted and a nice little drop into a powder bowl.![]()

So if you’re heading north, or if the snow comes back, don’t leave the bike at home, drop the seat a few inches, drop the tyre pressure to 20-25, wrap up warm and go have some fun.
Carbon-monkey are now offering winter bike skills courses, if the white stuff returns and you want to make the most of it get in touch and we’ll run a skills course on your nearest patch of snow. For more information email tom@carbon-monkey.co.uk or give us a call on 07794 931192.

I swear i was there….
Xander we’ll never forget the fun of that day, snowbiking has to be one of the most fun things i’ve ever done!
